Item Details and Description
Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's, pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new, but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric used to make woman's formal kimono; interwoven motifs and burnished gold designs printed on one side.
Type: Light-medium weight silk, slight drape; some areas have crepe textured feel; slight sheen in some areas of background.
Measurements: width=15 inches / 38.1 cm; Length= 1 Yard (.91m).
Colors: Background is pastels in varying tones of pinks to fuschia with some dark burgundy lines and whites; and burnished gold for the switch grass designs (see close-ups).
Motifs: This is quite original and has a modern feel to it, but it uses all traditional typical motifs (stylized clouds and waves) just arranged in different fashion; also, the dark burgundy lines overlay in counterpoint with the fields of various colors ; Furthermore, the use of the all-gold grass sets it apart. We feel it would have made a marvelous furisode.
Note: If buying multiples of this, it will be sent in uncut length.
