Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's, derived from used lady's ceremonial silk kimono, furisode type; taken apart and cleaned in Japan by Arai-Hari (specialty kimono cleaner); Received four full pieces; designs shown are uninterrupted the full length; 

Fabric Description: Cascade of flowers on ivory colored background, peonies and chrysanthemums rendered in Bingata (Okinawa) style look; Continuous designs running full length of piece; Sold by 54 inch piece.

Fabric Type: light-weight silk, has slight texture, sort of chirimen feel to the touch, slight drape; higher quality silk of 80's.

Measurements: Width=14 inches / 35.6 cm ; Length= 54inches (1.37m).

Colors: Background is light ivory color; motifs  are wide varieties of darker colors and some lighter shades: colonial blue, black, orange, red, pink, red and greens; a few small gold accents in center of some flowers.

Motifs: Cascade of flowers, peonies and chrysanthemums with a few maple leaves at sides; Peonies are larger, about 4 inches (10cm) diameter; chrysanthemums average 1.5inches(4cm) diameter; The colors and style of rendering of the designs are in the Bingata tradition (Okinawa type prints) but  are NOT actual bingata Designs on one side.

Condition: Outstanding for its age, colors still strong, clean,no stains or tears.
