Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950's or earlier rare fine delicate wool used for making women's kimono; We rarely see wool of this type, which is smooth with drape and can easily be mistaken for silk. We found this 5 yard piece mixed with our kimono shipment and originally were going to cut out lengths on the fabric which had small holes and sell by yard, but this is such a special fabric we thought we'd sell as is as most of it would be useful to artists/designer. We'll describe the condition etc below.

Fabric Description:  100% fine Japanese wool with nice drape;Sold in one piece of 5 yards / 4.57m length;

Measurements: Width=14 inches / 35.6cm ; Length= 5 yard (4.57m);

Colors: Background color is a deep indigo-purple; flowers are wide variety of mostly lighter shade pastels(see close-ups)

Motifs: Mostly smaller sized chrysanthemums (average flower one inch / 2.6cm in diameter), lesser amount of cherry blossoms with switch grass blades; excellent for doll-making work or small scale projects.

Condition: For its age it is in very good to excellent condition; There are some tiny aging holes (3 larger than half an inch /1cm), a few pinholes here and there as well as wear and gaps at the edge but +99% of this fabric is usable. Fabric is delicate so would need backing for most uses.
