Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's, derived from used lady's ceremonial silk kimono, furisode type; taken apart and cleaned in Japan by Arai-Hari (specialty kimono cleaner); Received one full piece around 5 yards; designs are uninterrupted the full length; 

Fabric Description:  Highly ornate continuous designs running full length, same designs repeat approximately every 30 inches; Sold by 1 yard increments;
Fabric Type: light-weight silk, slight sheen, slight drape; higher quality silk of 80's.
Measurements: width=15.25 inches / 37.8 cm ; Length= 1 yard (91cm); salvedge of 3/8 inch (.8cm) on each side.

Colors: Bright dark red with touch of shuiro(vermillion) background,many different colors in the motifs, from dark fuschia and purple to light olive-green and various pastels (see close-ups); burnished gold accents and lines throughout..

Motifs: Ornate with metallic gold lines and accents throughout; multiple floral types,  temari (decorative ball); uchiwa (traditional open fans) in clusters which run continuously in S pattern for full length, no gaps; There is also a very subtle speckled pattern throughout background and designs; simply gorgeous and elegant in the classic Japanese style.

Condition: Outstanding for its age, colors still strong, clean,no stains or tears.

NOTE: We are selling these in one yard increments, each including the full 30 inch motifs which repeat throughout (one of the close-ups show this). If purchasing more than one yard, fabric is sent in one piece uncut.
