Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's, pieces derived from deadstock kimono roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new, but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric used to make woman's higher end kimono; elaborate interwoven and printed motifs and gold-metallic accents.
Fabric Type: Light weight silk, good drape; soft sheen.
Measurements: width=15 inches / 38.1cm ; Length= 87 inches=2.4yards (2.2m).
- Colors: Wide variety of colors, mostly in pastel types; (see close-ups).
Motifs: Exquisite complex traditional Japanese floral groupings on clusters of decorated fans; flowers include chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, peonies, maple leaves and other traditional designs,geometrics and interwoven shining ovals intended to evoke sense of lily pads on a pond; breathtaking and exceptionally creative.
