Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's Japanese kimono fabric salesperson's sampler roll, with 42 different panels averaging 14"/35.5 cm wide X 10.5"/ 26.7 cm each (with half inch (1.27 cm) white bar separating panels).
Fabric Description: Silk roll, originally used as sampler by kimono salespersons; This is a chirimen crepe certified as from Kyoto,
Fabric Type: Japanese Chirimen Silk
Measurements: Roll: Width:14"/35.5 cm wide; Length: 12.83 yards / 11.7m; each panel is 14inches / 35.5cm X 10.5inches/ 26.7 cm each (with half inch / 1.27cm white bar separating panels).

Motifs: 42 different patterns, on one side only.
Cultural Notes: Kimono salespersons in Japan used these fabric sampler rolls to show customers the different silks that were available to them in ordering a custom-made kimono.
