Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is light-medium weight silk for use in making a woman's kimono; Background color is black but all interwoven designs are in a dark plum that has a definite sheen; More on the color: in brighter light, the sheen renders the fabric's color to almost a bright Fuschia; Most of the fabric is filled with classic shibori-dots mesh designs (elements are 1/4 inch/6.35mm diamonds); motifs are of open fans which are decorated with many classic country home scene images: country house, bamboo fences, Ivy vines,  3-petal leaf figures, blossoms, trees, as well as cloud edges and traditional royal flower carriages; front side is intended as the outer design, and almost same on back; given all the intricate interweaving, the fabric is not smooth to the touch, only slight drape.

Recommended for making scarf/accessories.

Colors: Please use our text descriptions to complement your sense of the colors, as color and contrast differ on different devices.
