Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s light-medium weight silk fabric piece received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type: Light-medium weight silk, textured feel (slight chirimen texture) gray-blue color background with cursive bands running parallel lengthwise; Within the cursive bands are white, red and gray-blue small fuzzy rectangle figures which are 3/8" (9.53mm) at longest side; Fabric has a kasuri (ikat) sense to it with the blurred boundaries; Due to the low width of this fabric, it might possibly have been intended as part of making an obi(sash) but we're unsure; Fabric same on both sides.
