Item Details and Description
Fabric History/Pedigree: Rare 1960's pieces derived from full deadstock 12yds | 11m bolt of a special kimono silk; When we say "Deadstock" we mean old inventory which is like new, but has been in storage, never been used. This fabric is very rare in that it has the texture and feel of raw silk (rough to the touch) but also has tiny interwoven silver threads throughout lengthwise; It retains a fairly nice amount of drape however.
(NOTE: If you've ever seen or handled silk after it is just woven from raw silk it has a distinct texture to it. This fabric is like that except it has obviously been dyed and printed.)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric designed for use in making woman's formal dress silk kimono; designs are equally unusual and distinctive, being larger scale flowers on black background which has tiny silver glints showing in interwoven pinstripes; designs are on one side only, looking like they were hand-painted but we believe it was a print process.
Colors: Background is black with tiny pin stripes in silver showing through (see largest close-ups); We are not sure of the type of flowering plants in this piece but colors are gray, silver, dark burgundy and fuschia with some whites (see close-ups).
Note: If buying multiples of this, it will be sent in uncut length.
