Item Details and Description

Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s piece derived from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE

Fabric Description:  Lightweight silk kimono fabric, used to make woman's kimono; fabric patterns on both sides (slightly lighter on reverse); fabric is brown background with full matrix background using tiny 'shibori dots' patterns within a geometric web composed of various diamond shapes linked (see pictures and close-ups)solid brown 1/4 inch(6.35mm) bands laterally every 8 inches(20.32cm); fabric is textured, slightly rough to the touch.

NOTE ON IMAGES: Our last picture above in extreme close-up is over-exposed to better reveal the tiny pinstripes and it shows a lighter shade of the chocolate (Hershey Brown?) fabric; the color of the other pictures better render the fabric background color. Please use our text descriptions of colors to complement pictures, as colors vary on different devices.

Condition: Excellent.
