USPS Shipping Changes: Flat Rate Priority and Parcel Post Select (Nov.16,2016)

US Postal Service Changes: November 16, 2016

The most recent changes by the US Postal Service have affected what shipping options we can offer in our check-out system for USA customers. Please note how these changes impact USA shipping rate options:

  1. Parcel-Post Select has replaced traditional "Parcel Post" for all packages 4 pounds and above inside USA. While we can ship by Parcel-Post Select we find that in many zip codes the Priority Mail rate is  actually lower (within a dollar) of the Priority Rate.

Therefore, for now our ecommerce platform no longer lists Parcel Post Select, only Priority and Express during check-out. At present we are unable to automate our ecommerce cart to include the Flat-Rate Priority Box and Parcel Post Select options during normal check-out. See below for how to handle this.

  2. A new set of Flat-Rate Priority boxes are available from the US Postal Service, but their sizes will not fit most of our bulk kimono packages. The only packages we can use the flat-rate boxes for are the following --

    Girls Kimono(110-GIRLS)
    Boys Kimono(110-BOYS)
    Girls Nagajuban (110-GNAG)
    Nagajuban (110-NAG)

These are averaging $15.85 for ten pound packages we ship from our Delaware East Coast location to central USA to West Coast zip codes.

  3. TO ORDER USING FLAT-RATE PRIORITY OPTION:

If you want to order the above packages (10lbs) please send us your name billing & shipping address and product name  via this link (NO PAYMENT INFO) and we'll advise of your shipping and send you a custom invoice.

  4. Parcel-Post Select:

If you want us to ship an order of any package by Parcel-Post Select please also contact us before placing your order via our standard site check-out; send us your name billing & shipping address and product name  via this link (NO PAYMENT INFO) and we'll advise of your shipping and send you a custom invoice. Keep in mind that Parcel-Post Select takes much longer and can cost more than Priority.
