family business offering exquisite one-of-a-kind fabric art such as 1930's kimono sashes (maruobi),
antique textiles
in pieces and whole garments or hangings; We also have steady access
to truly special vintage fabrics (silk,cotton, hemp) taken from vintage
kimono; we sell these in lots, yards, bolts/rolls and pieces in our
vintage kimono fabric section. As for the owner, Yoko Lewis has been in business since 1989, and on-line since 1998 . We have an office in southern Japan as well as our main office in Pennsylvania; we ship from the USA office.Yoko is third generation of a family in Japan which has been dealing in Japanese arts and antiques since the late 1800s'. Her full story is here. This page is just for designers, interior decorators and textile or multimedia artists who use textiles in their work. We have as clients a good number of creative artists and artisans involved in a wide range of work: Our products have been used by commercial interior designers and decorators in hotels, restaurants, offices and private residences; also we serve several international high fashion designers who incorporate our vintage kimono into their various fashion lines; We also have a number of textile and multi-media artists who make many things from our bulk kimono packages or finer pieces; furthermore, we serve the burgeoning creativity seen by small and 'cottage industry' entrepeneurs who use vintage kimonos to make all sorts of things.
