Kathleen R.H. & Family(Idaho)

A note from Yoko about this page:

We continue to be amazed at the variety of emotional -- often passionate -- personal responses we get from customers about their vintage kimono packages or other Japanese textiles they've purchased from us. We love the stories they weave for us, the pictures they paint, telling us of what the kimonos conjure up for them, of childhood or other memories. While we still haven't come up with a clear explanation, we feel that there seems to be a magical something about the aesthetics of traditional Japanese fabrics which touch so many of us. For many of our customers the sight (and smells) of the vintage kimonos trigger memories of another time, another place, they touch us in that deeper place which only true beauty can reach. So, when the stories are as sincere and heartfelt as the series of emails (with pictures) we received from Kathleen, we consider them as true gifts, spontaneous expressions in response to beauty, something we cherish -- and want to show to others; such communications are for us far more than just correspondence between a vendor and a customer.

In this spirit we offer here a series of emails with pictures sent to us by Kathleen who lives in Idaho. We'll let her letters and pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy!

 Dearest Yoko and Dana,
Thank you so very much for the most beautiful Bulk A 20lb and Bulk D 10lb package. I could not believe my good fortune when I opened up the box and out came one after another the most breathtaking kimono's and Haori's. I believe they could have easily been sold by the piece, you are so kind and generous to have included them in the Bulk packages. My favorites are the light weight light pink and white yukata with the little flowers and the beautiful black Silk Kimono with the majestic cranes along the hem. I also feel very fortunate to have received the cute children's kimono and Haori too. I cannot thank you enough for making this the best (on-line/off line) purchase I have ever made. Thank you also for the wonderful extras that you included in my package, I really love the Zabuton/Futon? fabric and the lovely mauve bolt/fabric panel with the red, white and gold flower and water scene. I am so truly grateful that I have found your wonderful store and I am sure I will be making many more purchases from you in the future. As a matter of fact tomorow is my birthday so I will be calling you up to make another purchase today with my birthday money!
Sincerely,
Kathleen R.H. - Idaho.

Ps: Please feel free to include any or all of the above in your testimonials, I will sing your praises to all who will listen. I truly am grateful for your generousity, I would never have been able to afford all the lovely items you sent me had it not been for your shop. I found your shop a little over a year ago and started to set aside a little each week religiously so that I could make this purchase, I am so glad I did. Thank you again. Also I included 2 pictures - the first is a scanned photo of my sister and I in Kimono/Yukata in Sasebo; Japan (most likely vintage cause we are both pretty old now, LOL!) and a picture of my youngest girls in the Beautiful Kimono that you sent to me (I really wanted you to see how pretty the girls looked in your exquisite kimonos). The girls LOVED all the pretties as did I . Domo Arigato Gozaimashita!

PS... I have included a picture of myself (I am around age 4 in another vintage kimono) this picture was taken in our front yard in Idaho.Thank you again for allowing me to purchase from your wonderful store. I honestly feel like I have stumbled upon a treasure. Till next time...
As ever,
Kathleen R.H.

Dear Yoko and Dana,
Thank you so very much for my wonderful 2nd package of Kimono's. Yoko I was really touched by all the extra's you included for my birthday. Wow, that brand new bolt of fabric and all the lovely fabric panel pieces and that really exquisite piece with the beautiful shades of orange/red with those fans, Oh My! And I cannot even begin to explain my middle daughters excitement over her very own Kimono (that goes all the way to her ankles!) She and I are certain you picked that out especially for her! Yoko, I truly am grateful, thank you so much. All the kimono's are so lovely. My oldest daughter really wants the light pink kimono with the butterflies AND the beautiful green kimono with the flowers and cranes - of course those are my favorites too, so we will share! It won't be hard to share though, for you have been so kind and generous to us. I absolutely cannot wait till my next purchase!!
As ever,
Kathleen R.H.

PS:
I have included a picture of my 3 girls this time - with my middle daughter in that wonderful kimono. Thank you again!

Dear Yoko and Dana,
....
I also wanted to send you a picture of me as I am now. This Kimono I am wearing is one my Mother made for her Annual trip to Hawaii with her Japanese ladies club. You would like my Mom alot, she translated the domo-arigato on the back of your business card for me! She says your japanese writing is so nice Yoko, unlike my sisters - my Mother says my sister's writing looks like chicken scratches!!
Well I had better close for now, it is getting late and I need to get the girls off to bed.
Your friend,
Katheen.
