"D" PACKAGE DESCRIPTIONS:
1.
CONTENT:
Packages are comprised of: Synthetic kimono & fabrics, Mixed(grades
1-3) by-the-Pound (10lb Minimum). We offer a package of 10lbs and
up in 1 pound increments above that, all assorted as described here.
2.
SORTING DETAILS:
These are all worn/used/old recycled Japanese garments, sold by the
pound, and are meant for cutting, artwork,
design, crafts etc. and mostly not for wear, though very often are
used for casual wear ; Each order contains a mix of:
Solid
colors & patterned.
Men's
& women's (mostly women's)
Mix
of short kimono (haori/michiyuki) and longs varies.
Children's
kimonos are increasingly rare and seldom included in by-pound.
3.
QUALITY & CONDITION:
Conditions vary from excellent to good, a few 'fair' only because
of missing sleeve or similar. Pieces are only included if they have
aesthetic value. Sometimes we do included deadstock rolls. We do not
send 'rag' quality soiled kimono(s).
As vintage, all our by-pound kimonos will have some stains & imperfections,
but many are of the sort sold by many of our competitors as by-piece
items.
4. BY-POUND COUNTS:
This is a BY-POUND product, not based on piece-count. However, for
general information, the
count of kimono per 20lbs varies: silks average 15-20 kimonos per
20lbs. We do not guarantee count, as this is a by-pound product, but
these estimations give a good idea of what you get in a typical order.
6.
IMPORTANT NOTE RE: JAPANESE SYNTHETIC MOCK SILKS:
As
this package is comprised of synthetics (mock-silks), it is important
to know that in the 1970's the Japanese kimono makers began experimenting
with synthetics which were made to be as close as possible to natural
silk. Many of the higher quality synthetic silk kimonos from the 1970's
and later are often so good that even knowledgeable persons have trouble
telling them from silk just by looking at them.
Also -- an additional note -- the polyesters used in Japanese blends
with natural fiber silks are NOT anything like some of the lesser quality
polyesters we're accustomed to in the US/Europe.
REMEMBER: Please
be sure to carefully read all the information
pages, FAQs
and testimonials before deciding on
your first order. This saves you-- and us-- inconvenience and disappointment
if you order without a full understanding of these products.
