This is a light weight Japanese silk from the 1980's or 1990's; This is deadstock, meaning new off the shelves, just older; This type red silk is commonly used to make under-kimono, called nagajuban, or possibly used in making liners for formal kimono. The patterns are interwoven throughout with one side being dominant with cluster of roses and another type flower; Also, there are small wave patterns throughout, visible on one side; only the flower clusters are seen on the reverse. Fabric is a red -- not red-orange (shuiro) throughout and is in outstanding condition; Fabric is light and delicate, with slight drape but is still intact and strong; Clean and recommended for creative uses in making scarf, clothing accessory.
