This is a piece of heavily woven silk taken from a vintage maruobi made in the 1930's. Pictures here show the top of the piece, which measures 12.5" X 50". Great cutter, ready to use.
Traditional motifs on one side: ornate cranes in-flight; chrysanthemums, peonies, & other flora; also a variety of traditional decorative shapes and geometrics.Reverse is threads etc from the brocade.
Colors: Very little of this piece is un-embellished but what background there is is a light creamy tan; The colors are all muted and more subdued than many of the other similar obi we see; Dominant colors on the creamy tan background are: dark olive greens, off-whites & silver, peach, light mustard; colors approach a pastel feel.
Outstanding and distinctive piece suitable for framing or for that special project or garment.
Condition: The only noticeable stain is shown below, bottom-right, in close-up; does not detract from appearance; These maruobi from this period are very soft and splendid silks.
