This offering is 1 piece of Japanese vintage cotton fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia), acquired in the Kurume area of Kyushu, Japan; this piece is estimated from the 1940's-1950's; Fabric is black with pin-stripes in subdued colonial green, burgundy & light mustart or white (These are very thin)and are grouped in stripes lengthwise; (see close-ups); This is deadstock (never used, just older)and is still firm. The
patterns seen in kasuri are made by pre-dyeing paste resistance
and varying techniques used to affect warp & weft, differences
which lead to the sorts of patterns seen here.
