This offering is 1 piece of Japanese vintage cotton fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia), acquired in the Kurume area of Kyushu (southern of 4 main islands), Japan; this piece is from the 1960's; Fabric is dark indigo blue with light blue designs(see close-ups); This is deadstock (never used, just older) and is still firm.

The patterns seen in kasuri are made by pre-dyeing paste resistance and varying techniques used to affect warp & weft, differences which lead to the sorts of patterns seen here.

Fabric Condition: EXCELLENT, like new condition; We anticipate that quilters and textile artists may find this of interest.
