Description: High bid takes one 15-piece sampler made from vintage kasuri and other Japanese country fabrics; The majority of the pieces in each sampler are kasuri (ikat) with small sized motifs, with a few other type weaves to include 1 or 2 solid dark indigos and striped. Each sampler is similar in color and design variety; The paper used to bind these, with basting thread, is from antique Japanese books from pre-War Japan (see the kanji characters at top of first photo). The basting threads come out easily without damage to the fabrics. The fabrics are all mostly clean with exception of the solid pieces which have very minor stains and are virtually 100% useable; All the kasuri pieces are excellent; All pieces are vintage, ranging from the 1930's to 1970s. If you've wanted to attempt work with Japanese fabrics but don't want to buy large amounts, this is a good thing to start with; Great for the quilter, fabric artist and clothing or accessory maker. |
