This is a light weight Japanese printed silk-blend from the 1990's; Fabric is from a girl's kimono which was taken apart and cleaned; This is a print and -- while nice -- is not in our opinion of the same quality* as our usual pieces from ceremonials from 1980's and earlier; therefore, we price this lower.
| *Background info: Many of the fabrics made since the early nineties, particularly the common ones -- like this one -- are used for shichi-go-san (a holiday when 7- 5 - 3 year olds go to shrine in ceremonial kimono). It is our observation that while these fabrics use the same bright colors and motifs, the newer ones have a different feel to them, as well as more of a painted on look for the designs. Overall condition is excellent, like new: fabric is clean and there are no holes, tears nor stains; still intact and strong.
