This is a 1.5yd (1.37m) piece of light weight deadstock cotton ( new but unsold stock) from the 1970's-80's withdesigns on both sides. Motif is of the ShiShi Lion-Dog*(For a great explanation of the history and significance of this symbol visit the wikipedia.org page HERE. D/Y); The ShiShi is also sometimes called "Fu Dog" in colloquial Japanese. The color of the fabric is white and dark indigo-blue, motifs on both sides; background is a brick wall pattern with the ShiShi running the length of the fabric; the circular design is probably symbolic of the mandala, a symbol of Indian origins but used in Japanese Buddhism as well. The ShiShi(s) measure about 13 inches/33cm from tip of tail to front claws. Condition: EXCELLENT;Fabric still strong, like new, still slightly firm; Recommended for a variety of creative applications.
