This is a light weight Japanese silk from the 1930's; has an interwoven background of various traditional motifs (royal flower cart, florals etc) with motifs of various bouquets in what seems to be an ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) theme. Fabric is a pink with a hint of faint lavender; Other colors are red, mustard, white and other small uses of mustard. This fabric is from a lady's kimono which has been taken apart & cleaned long ago. Fabric is light and delicate, with slight drape but is still intact and strong; Other conditions: Very slight patina softens the pinks and the whites only slightly; Unfortunately, this was found wrinkled and we've not dry-cleaned it to remove the wrinkles, which are visible on the pictures here; Overall condition is very good as there are no holes, tears or significant stains (note that almost all vintage fabrics can have some imperfections ); clean and recommended for creative uses in making scarf, clothing accessory.
