DESCRIPTION:
This is a striking lined decorative runner custom-made by our own master couturiere in Japan; made from a Japanese kimono sash called maruobi; This obi was made in 1930's and is the most cherished type maruobi for the mastery of the traditional designs, the quality of the brocade and embroidery and the softer quality of the silk of that period; Measures 12.25" X 75" (31.12cm X 1.9m); bottom liner is silk also, a fine vintage kimono liner red silk with interwoven crests(mon). The motif is highly distinctive, with a pair of cranes (male & female) in flight; the lower crane has embroidery & brocaded dark aqua-blue-green accents; Major color theme is burnished gold with silvers & white; chrysanthemums are in rusty-reds to burnished orange, as well as dark burgundy; There is virtually no undecorated space on this piece. EXCELLENT CONDITION. Recommended for use on a formal dining room table (or long cadenza); also for use as a decorative mat in other formal room or office; could be used for other creative decor/design purposes; Even our best pictures do not do this piece justice; A distinctive and gorgeous piece, yet the golds are not overly loud, balanced with the other colors.. Wonderful addition to any home or office. Condition: EXCELLENT, clean.
