This is a lovely piece of fine, light-weight silk from the 1940's-1950's (possibly earlier) taken from a lady's kimono; This is a rather interesting sample of motifs more common in the pre-war period, with large horizontal bands about 7.5" (19+cm) deep with circular interwoven motifs of flowers & flower carts; The circular motifs are about 12 inches (30.48cm) in diameter. Due to the style of weave, motifs are the same on both sides; As this piece appears not to have been processed extensively, the silk feels closer to the consistency of raw silk (very slightly rough to the touch as compared to damasks etc); Also, the colors are muted red, yellow & greens.

Excellent condtion: recommended for creative uses in making scarf, clothing accessory or even display.
