This is a seldom seen piece of Nishijin weave wool. Japanese wool is quite different from the wools we see in USA & Europe in that it is a tighter weave, lighter, smoother to the touch, even soft; and it drapes like medium-weight silk would. Color is a sort of light purple with gray tinge to it. The fine stripes run vertically and are alternation light yellw and colonial blue; Interwoven designs are bands of geometric shapes (X in a box). The color is quite difficult to describe (and capture in photo), but it on our monitor the bottom-left 2 pictures best represent the color in room light.Patterns are the same on both sides.
Condition: EXCELLENT.Recommended for a variety of creative applications, perhaps best suited to use in making garments. |
