Description: This is a piece of deadstock (like new, unused stock) from the 1950's, a light-weight Japanese kimono cotton which measures 14.25" X 1.5yards; No selvage; This fabric is woven to be slightly textured to the touch; not quite seersucker but a bit unsmooth to the touch. Colors: Very Dark Blue (lighter indigo blue) & white. Motifs:
Traditional Japanese design,tiny squares (.125 / 1/8th inch square) which
are themselves each in four quadrants; these squares (also called komon,
lit. 'little family crests') are arranged in rows (see closeups above). |
