Miscellaneous vintage garments & pieces, sold by the piece

scroll down please....there's more.

About this section:

When we started this site in 1998 there were few sites offering haori, michiyuki & higher quality Japanese vintage. However, as more and more sites have come on the scene selling kimono, since mid-2002 we have changed the focus of our site away from by-piece garments to bulk kimono(s) and Japanese antique/collectible textiles and fabric pieces, lots or samplers. We cater to the creative professions and hobbyists, to include designers, decorators, quilters and other niche artists (details of this in our 'about us' page)

Since then we no longer offer individual kimono garments on the site unless they are unique, antique or collectible. Now the only time we sell kimonos-by-piece is at festivals and cultural events a few times throughout the year and a few very special pieces here in this section.

At our venues we sell mostly ladies' kimono jackets (haori & michiyuki), some long kimono and yukata, as well as a wide variety of vintage kimono silk pieces;
(Note: Unfortunately, men's haori are not seen nearly as often in the recycling pool and when we have them they are always purchased nearly as soon as we put them up.)

As for our *wonderful vintage kimono silk fabric pieces, most of them are NOT on our site and are truly our creme de la creme (cream of the crop). (* We generally avoid hype in our descriptions on yokodana.com but use that term 'wonderful' only because it's the word many visitors and customers use to describe our fabrics & kimono).

BACKGROUND INFO:

We're often asked how we get so many high quality vintage kimono for our shows or festival venues. Basically, we go through a large amount of vintage kimonos in a year (tons) and in the course of gathering for our bulk kimono products we set aside especially beautiful pieces. We accumulate them throughout the year and sell them only at our venues.

Also, from time to time we come across interesting or unusual garments, which we place here in this section. Most of what we will put here will be wearable garments, though some customers may wish to display them.

We will update this section whenever we get something suitable for this page, so we suggest that interested visitors bookmark this page and visit us periodically. We post news of site updates on Twitter.com & Facebook ( if you want to follow us closely), as well as via our blog. You can also get on our opt-in list and get first notice when we do major site updates. To check out our free opt-in membership please click HERE.
