Other Packages

From time to time we have other package types which we accumulate over time and offer to customers. These are the types:

It is our practice to offer these first to members when we have them, and then post word of their availability to the blog.

If we have a large amount, then we re-post them to this section of the site. To be put on a wait list (Unfortunately with no idea of length of wait time), contact us by webmail HERE.)

Please READ THIS BOX FIRST: If you've never bought vintage clothing of any kind, especially vintage kimono, we ask you to take the time to read this if you are seriously considering our bulk products, as they differ in many ways from newly manufactured goods. Taking the extra time to read everything here before your purchase will help you make a more informed decision.

BACKGROUND & PRE-PURCHASE SUGGESTIONS:

We have been selling bulk kimonos (by pound) since 1998. As a result, we have learned that by-the-pound buying and selling is rather different compared to buying newly made items, so much more explanation is needed to maximize understanding.

Therefore, we ask your patience but need to stress that before deciding to buy we ask you to carefully review ALL the pages of information, including the FAQ pages (links below). We suggest starting with this page GENERAL DESCRIPTION,by scrolling down, and then link to the type packages (A & E) depending on your interests.

Lastly, it is essential that you read the FAQ's, as these are 100% the result of customers' input and are essential to understanding this product. Note we also have a 'virtual warehouse' with some pictures etc. and many testimonials as well. All links follow.

1. WHAT ARE VINTAGE KIMONO?

These are all worn / used / old / recycled Japanese garments, sold by the pound, and are meant for cutting, artwork, design, crafts etc. and mostly not for wear, though very often some are used for casual wear (see each package type description for details);

2. DO YOU HAVE FAQ'S (Answers to Frequently Asked Questions)?

Yes, we do. We have on-going text pages, as well as an audio FAQ. In fact, we strongly recommend that anyone considering these products carefully read all the specifications, FAQ's, virtual warehouse and testimonials.

Importance of the FAQ: To better understand this product, we strongly suggest prospective buyers also read these Important Answers to Most Frequently Asked Questions: About Our "A" Package Kimono.

3. DO YOU SHIP BULK KIMONOS IN BALES?(How do you pack them?):

NO, we do not ship in bales. All our bulk package vintage kimonos are folded neatly and packed in sturdy cartons. We actually pre-sort in Japan and at that time all are folded. The only exception may be an occasional piece which is a remnant or partial garment. Since there is no bale wire or strapping compressing the kimono, there is no concern about damage to the fabrics or having to remove wrinkles -- which is what happens when vintage kimono are shipped or stored by the bale.

Many of our kimonos have been cleaned prior to our receiving them in Japan; others may have been in storage so may have musty odors and be slightly wrinkled (see elsewhere about other aspects of condition).

4. COMPARISON SHOPPING -- Will I get my money's worth?:

In these difficult economic times we know how important it is to shop around, to look for best quality for the best prices. We routinely study our internet competitors and find that our prices are the lowest by far on the internet for bulk kimono, and our customers rave about the quality of our selections. But don't take our word for it: We encourage you to look around yourself (try search keywords: "kimono bundle", "kimono packs", "wholesale kimono", "bulk kimono" or "by-pound kimono" on your favorite search engine (ours is www.google.com)

If you do the arithmetic of our competitors' offerings you will see that we sell at least twice the amount of these in our bundles than some competitors, (in some cases 3x or more) -- AND OUR SHIPPING IN USA is included, AND DISCOUNTED to international customers! We can afford to do this because we have no middle men, operations at primary sources in Japan and ship from our USA office. And, we are told so often that our by-pound kimonos -- meant for crafters etc -- are 'too nice to cut'. We encourage you to study all our information, visit our competitors, and we're confident you'll prefer our value, quality and friendly customer service.

5. Can I see pictures of what's in the by-pound packages?

It is important to understand that each package is unique. We have them pre-sorted in Japan according to our specifications, and then fill each order from what is on hand here at the time each order is processed. But, to give you a general feel for what is in a bulk package, we do have pictures of a few real orders A Package before we shipped them out. So, to see what we call our Virtual Warehouse Tour please click HERE.

6. How about your present customers? How do they like this product?

7. Do you ship internationally?

We have shipped to every state in the United States, most US Territories and a large number of countries. For details -- and other helpful links for non-USA buyers -- please visit our international page.

8. What is your return policy?

Please read our special return policy for the bulk kimono products HERE. Our return policy for all our web catalog by-piece items is located HERE.

9. How long does it take to receive my order (Processing Time)?

The demand for our bulk kimono packages has steadily grown since we began offering them in 1999. Initially, when the numbers of orders were fewer we were able to always ship in 3 days from receipt of orders. However, the volume of orders has grown substantially so now it takes us longer to get them out the door.

We ourselves do the final sorting and shipping (To assure quality we do not want to hire others, so Yoko alone makes the final sorting choices, so only a certain amount of orders can be done daily); Therefore our response time varies throughout the year, being slowest in fall through early spring. At present we are able to ship between 5 and 10 business days from confirmed receipt of payment.

Transit times for customer actual receipt of packages are dependent on UPS shipping schedule for Continental USA and Postal Service shipping times for all others. International customers should also keep in mind that sometimes packages are delayed in your country's Customs.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: As we cannot keep up with the postal and customs requirements of the many countries to which we ship, we strongly urge new customers to check with your country's import & customs authorities for any restrictions, VAT or other customs fees you might anticipate for this product. For the information of our international customers we declare package contents as "Used Outer Garments & Textile Remants (+fabric type)" for the customs declaration.
