This is a light-weight deadstock Japanese kimono silk of a type called meisen (meisen means literally 'common stuff fabric, for daily use'); Meisen is popular lately due to its stylized presentation of larger motifs; This fabric has flowers and vines running vertically; Meisen fabric has a kasuri-like look to it (ikat) due to the fuzziness effect of the weave, but this is not though considered as kasuri(ikat); Designs same on both sides. Colors are gradation changes between colonial blues and grays, with black and olive greens used; flowers are dark red. Sold
by yard, minimum one yard; fabric is 14 inches / 35.56 cm wide. Recommended for a variety of creative applications, scarf, garment or accessory-making. Condition: EXCELLENT, Like new.
